Harley Street

Renovation of a centrally located 19th Century London apartment in the Grade II listed Howard de Walden Estate on Harley Street in the heart of the city. The apartment has been completely remodelled, bringing the interior up to date to accommodate a young professional. Period features including the Victorian service stair and beam and main dividing walls of the original Georgian interior have been preserved in line with English Heritage requirements.

The new interiors accommodate concealed and feature lighting points, which draw attention to the clean lines of the new sculptural interior and emulate the calm atmosphere of a contemporary gallery. A white palette is combined with 19th Century greens and accent yellow to draw attention to period features of the historic building.

The bathrooms have been extended and reconfigured within the existing demise, using Thassos marble, glass mosaics and coloured glass. The original cellular kitchen has been removed and the space revitalised as a study and library. A new open plan kitchen now resides at the heart of the flat, providing a flexible environment for entertaining.
