Inspired by the five star hotel’s location in central Amsterdam’s green Plantage neighbourhood, and bringing the botanical ambience of the hotel into its most luxurious spaces, Hyatt Regency Amsterdam appointed Archer Humphryes to redesign its Regency (from 55sqm) & Regency Executive Suites (from 60sqm). For this project, the architects set out to “reconcile the tradition and modernity which envelops Amsterdam’s urban fabric” and create warm, open and trendy residential spaces that blend the awarded green design of the hotel’s public spaces and connect this to the city. The resulting suites offer more of a home than a hotel room, “tactile, sensuous” spaces that stand out against the more conventional design of traditional urban hotel rooms & suites. Julie Humphryes describes “The suites exemplify a modern peaceful retreat that reflects the colours of this water city with the experimental attitude to furniture that Amsterdam is renowned for.”

Exuding both style and substance, the design incorporates herringbone wooden floors, an Inchyra Blue and warm walnut colour palette, as well as furniture by Pols Potten, Gubi and Artisan among others. Modern floral artworks are limited editions by Amsterdam-based Dutch artist Jan Commandeur and photography that reflects the building’s history blends the old with the new. More functional features and amenities are on hand to seamlessly complement a guest’s stay.
