Solange Kuwait
Solange Kuwait is an entertainment-led dining destination in Kuwait City’s Salhiya district, conceived in collaboration with Alan Yau and Nejoud Restaurant Management Company. For Archer Humphryes, the project brought together Yau’s long-established provenance in shaping globally recognised hospitality brands with a shared ambition to create a destination defined by atmosphere, performance and design-led storytelling. From the outset, the concept was rooted in making the interior inseparable from the experience, positioning Solange as a place where dining, music and spectacle operate as a single, cohesive narrative rather than separate elements.
The interior design is shaped around a richly layered, Art Deco–influenced language that feels both glamorous and contemporary. Moving beyond traditional interpretations of Chinese dining spaces, the design draws on early twentieth-century European references, combining bold geometry, custom tiles, bespoke artwork and dramatic detailing reinforce the immersive narrative, including a standout De Gournay work, A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains, used as a key visual anchor within the scheme. A curated palette of materials and finishes is used to heighten contrast and rhythm, while carefully controlled lighting shifts the atmosphere from early evening dining to late-night performance. A live music stage sits at the heart of the plan, anchoring the space and reinforcing Solange’s identity as an entertainment destination rather than a conventional restaurant.
For Archer Humphryes’, Solange Maison is best understood as the meeting point between Yau’s brand-building legacy and a client ambition to create a new kind of luxury hospitality in Kuwait—one that prioritises experience, craft and “emotional architecture,” down to circulation, lighting and sightlines. It’s a space calibrated for celebration and repeat visits: glamorous without feeling remote, theatrical without sacrificing comfort, and deliberately future-facing in how it positions dining as a cultural event. Solange is conceived as a landmark room delivered through a clear, narrative-led interior that keeps the guest experience at its centre. Solange Kuwait reflects a collaborative approach between designer, operator and restaurateur, resulting in a space that feels expressive yet disciplined, immersive yet welcoming. It stands as a contemporary interpretation of luxury hospitality in Kuwait, where design plays a central role in shaping experience, memory and return.
